Information about ethnic migration

Since 1991 through 1 quarter of 2015 there were 259 539 thousand families or  953 908 ethnic Kazakh people who came back to their historical motherland and received the status of oralman. They constitute 5,5% of total number of population.

Most part of oralmans – 61,5% came from Uzbekistan, 14,3% of them are from China, 9,3% - from Mongolia, 6,8% - from Turkmenistan, 4,6% - from Russia and 3,5% are from other countries.

Information about the repatriated Kazakhs

          Since1991 through January 1, 2015, 259 159 thousand families or 952 882 thousand of ethnic Kazakhs have returned to their historical motherland and obtained the status of the repatriates that constitutes 5,5% of total number of population.

         Most of the repatriates  – 61,5% arrived from Uzbekistan, 14,3% are immigrants from China, 9,3% - from Mongolia, 6,8% - from Turkmenistan, 4,6% - from Russia and  3,5% - from other countries.

Concerning the involved manpower as of February 1, 2015

With the purposes of the internal labor market protection the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan annually establishes the quota for involvement of foreign specialists in the republic.

For 2015 the quota is established at the rate of 0,7 per cent to active population of the republic that constitutes 63 thousand units (in 2014 – 0,7 % or 63 thousand).

The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan annually introduces quotas for foreign workers in order to protect internal labor market.

Quota is fixed of 0,7% to corresponding labor force of republic, which represented 63 thousand units as of 2014 (in 2013 – 1,2% or 108,1 thousand units).

As at November 1, 2014, 31,6 thousands of foreign nationals worked in Kazakhstan by the permits of the local executive bodies, on the following categories:

first (heads and their executives) – 1 723 people;

For 2014, the quota is established at 0.7% to economically active population, making up 63 thousand units (in 2013– 1.2 % or 108.1 thousand).

As of July 1, 2014, authorized by the local executive bodies 27.3 thousand foreign people were employed in the Republic of Kazakhstan, following the categories:

For 2014 as of 1.07.2014,3,404 families and 7,264 ethnic Kazakhs came back to the historical homeland and acquired the status of repatriates.

      Of the total number of repatriates, most of them – 2,312 families or 4,866 people came from Uzbekistan, 668 families or 1,366 people came from China, 196 families or 237 people - from Mongolia, 132 families or 551 people - from Turkmenistan, 26 families or 69 people - from Russia, 46 families or 77 people from other CIS countries and 24 families or 98 people–from other countries.
