Every year, 12 June is World day against child labor, which was declared by the International labor organization in 2002. Its purpose is to draw attention to the problems of child labor and its worst forms, which include slavery, dangerous work, illegal activities and others.
Prevention of the worst forms of child labor is one of the basic principles of the labor legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, for the violation of which criminal and administrative liability is provided.
The fundamental documents in this regard are the Convention of the International labor organization No. 138 "On the minimum age for employment", as well as the Convention of the International labor organization No. 182 "On the prohibition and immediate measures for the elimination of the worst forms of child labor".
In addition, the legislation defines a list of jobs consisting of 103 general professions and types of work in which the use of workers under the age of eighteen is prohibited.
In 2018, the state labor inspectors during the inspections revealed 10 facts of illegal employment of minors in Aktobe, Atyrau, Zhambyl, East Kazakhstan, West Kazakhstan regions, the cities of Nur-Sultan, Almaty. On all revealed facts instructions are issued, employers are brought to administrative responsibility.
Ministry of labor and social protection calls on employers to comply with labor legislation and to prevent the worst forms of child labor.
Also, citizens can report all cases of employment of minors in the labor inspectorate or in the contact center "Emergency service 111".
